How do I schedule my initial physical therapy appointment?

By South Carolina law, you are not required to obtain a prescription to see a physical therapist. However, insurance providers, including Medicare, require a doctor's prescription, in order to file claims for reimbursement. Contact your doctor for a prescription, and have the office staff fax the prescription to our business office (located in Travelers Rest). You may call the Travelers Rest location to schedule your appointment. The office staff in Travelers Rest will schedule your appointment at either of the two locations that is more convenient.

Are there any documents to complete?

There are forms that you will need to complete prior to your first appointment. You can either stop by our Travelers Rest office and pick up the packet to complete at home, or the Travelers Rest staff can email or fax you the forms if that is more convenient. You can also download the forms from this website. You
can then bring the completed forms with you to your initial appointment. You can also complete the forms at our office the day of your appointment. However, you will be required to come to our office 30 minutes prior to your appointment.

What insurance plans does Russell Physical Therapy participate with?

All major insurances are accepted. Please feel free to call the Travelers Rest office prior to scheduling an appointment if you want to check if your particular plan is accepted. Our office staff will be happy to obtain your benefit information.

What should I wear to my appointment?

You should wear comfortable clothing that will allow for freedom of movement, and that will allow the therapist to manipulate the injured area.

How long will each visit take?

Most sessions last from 45 to 90 minutes. The therapist will prescribe an individualized treatment plan, and the length of each session will vary from person to person. Please allow an hour for the initial visit.

What do I need to do if I need to cancel an appointment?

Please contact our office at least 24 hours in advance to cancel an appointment. You can also leave a message on our voice mail if it is necessary to reach us after business hours.

Do you treat my particular condition?

Russell Physical Therapy treats a variety of conditions and diagnoses. However, if you have specific questions regarding your condition and the availability of services, please contact our office at (864) 834-4995. Our staff will be happy to answer any concerns or questions you may have.
